This is my first digital portrait and tribute to John Doman as Rodrigo Borgia in the Canal+ adaptation, Borgia: Faith and Fear by Tom Fontana. This project was developed under the guidance of my mentor, Peter Zoppi.
Initially I started sculpting the portrait inside zBrush, but quickly moved to Mudbox for several reasons: managing UDIM’s, cameras, materials, brushes, layers, etc. Texturing XYZ VFACE textures were used and transferred to my base mesh.
The cloth was developed inside Marvelous Designer. Look development for the velvet shader was an experimental process. Mostly procedural and tiling textures were utilized for the development of the main velvet shader.
Developed from clean base meshes.
8k UDIMS for the portrait & 4k UDIMS for everything else.

Shape, placement, and layering of the guides were most important for developing this groom.
